viBeSongMakers

viBeSongMakers is an advanced music/ song creation program where 4-6 girls express themselves musically through writing, recording and performing original songs in partnership with professional musicians. This 5 month program is offered once a year, and meets afterschool and on the weekends including an intensive weekend in a professional NYC recording studio!

viBeSongMakers use the power and strength of musical forms to construct narratives, poetry and the necessary stories to communicate their ideas and needs to our communities. Girls learn piano, songwriting, beginning guitar, drum machine, basic music theory and digital music producing as they construct individual and collective songs. They also learn business and entrepreneurial skills as they help design their CD packaging and help execute the marketing and distribution of their music.

viBeSongMakers go on to perform their music live with a band of professional musicians at various professional music venues and music festivals throughout NYC. Members of viBeSongMakers have performed with Grammy Award®- winning children’s music group, Dan Zanes and Friends, and on Broadway at the New Victory Theatre.

Following the completion of their songs, the viBeSongMakers then translate their songs into music videos! In partnership with organizations like Smith Productions, girls learn basic video and editing skills, and direct, shoot, star in and edit their own spectacular music videos.
