Rochelle Herring Board Member
Rochelle Herring joined the viBe board in 2017. Her career has focused on working with school districts as both a project manager and consultant to launch new initiatives and bring them to scale. Herring specializes in school design, leadership development and standards-based instruction. Her previous positions include: special assistant to the superintendent in Holyoke (Massachusetts) Public Schools for turnaround initiatives; project manager in the Atlanta Public Schools for the design and development of the New Schools for Carver design; cluster leader at the National Center on Education and the Economy; and teacher in the Montclair Public Schools. Herring has previously worked as a consultant to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Sacramento Public Schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools, the California Office to Reform Education and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Projects she has been involved with include strategic planning, professional development in implementation of the Common Core State Standards and use of the “data wise improvement process” and instructional rounds to enhance instructional leadership. Herring holds a B.A. in psychology from Spelman College, a master’s degree in psychological foundations of reading from New York University and an Ed.M. in the scientific foundations of education from Teachers College at Columbia University. In addition, she has earned an Ed.M. in administration, social policy and planning from the Urban Superintendents Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an Ed.D. in administration, social policy and planning from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
