Safa Ishmel-Muhammad

Safa Ishmel-Muhammad is a 23 year old vocalist and audio engineer who creates music that bridges the art of neo-soul and contemporary sound into millennial media. The music industry was introduced to her through her parents, her mother being an independent artist, and her father, an assistant director for music videos, television shows, and more. She attended Cicely L. Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts to study vocal and choir music throughout her academic career. Safa’s independent professional career began after her admission into The New School for Jazz and Contemporary music as a vocalist. There, she networked with other students and professors that led to gateway career opportunities. From singing for Cicely Tyson herself at Abyssinian Baptist Church to performing background vocals with pop band TimeFlies Music on Good Morning America, Safa experienced a universal dynamic of working with various music genres. Safa currently lives in the New York City area and released her debut EP, “Object of Desire” on July 16th, 2019.
