Gabrielle Woods
I am an actor, performer, producer, comedian, sister, daughter, friend, and partner. I was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I am a lover of books, the NYC subway, meaningful conversation with friends and loved ones, Spanish grammar and conversation clubs, running, and intersectional feminism. I’ve been in love with theatre since middle school, when I had the opportunity to be an emcee clown in the school’s circus. I remember the thrill I felt when I realized I could improvise on stage, and have a powerful enough presence to elicit laughter from the audience. As I continue to discover my purpose in the arts world and beyond, I am always seeking that joy and playfulness I experienced as an 11 year old on stage. I will always work hard as a producer to ensure my work actively amplifies diverse imaginations and stories, and affirms the humanity of the artists bringing the stories to life. My dad passed away last winter at 83, and was one of the most loyal supporters of my artwork. He always encouraged me to pursue my acting career, reminding me of my talent. I carry him with me in this career, and in everything I do.
